Does your wedding reception have to be purely "sit down and eat"? We think not. Add some fun and surprise to your wedding reception with a few well executed games. It's also a perfect way to burn off calories from the yummy wedding reception meal!
Kissing Games Part One
Everyone knows that the crowd loves to bang on the plates and glasses with their forks and knives. But what to do if you do not want to be standing up and having to kiss your new Bride or Groom every time you fill your mouth with food. You need to use a kissing game to help control when YOU want to kiss.
Kissing games can sometimes be a bit of a pain, especially to come up with something new and exciting. Do you pay for a game supplied by your DJ? Or do you come up with some kind of a game you put together yourself?
Most times games supplied by your DJ are not expensive and if you ask he will usually throw it in for free. Sometimes it is just better to go with a tried and tested program.
For example we have the Trivia game;
BRIDE & GROOM TRIVIA - KISSING GAME
On cards, write out questions that deal with the bride & groom and place them in a container either with the DJ/MC or at the head Table. Or a table could just yell, "TRIVIA!" and your DJ/MC would ask that table a question.
Guests take turns picking a trivia question from the container then your DJ/MC reads the question out loud. If the question is answered correctly by the guest, the Bride and Groom kiss. If the question is answered incorrectly by the guest, you have 2 options:
1) No kisses and the guest returns to their seat without a Consequence.
2) The guest must suffer the Consequence by getting them to do something.
Some possible Consequences could be:
- Drink a shot at the bar. (Dose not need to be an alcoholic drink)
- Give advice to the Bride and Groom.
- Guest must kiss someone.
- Sing a song with love in it.
- Make guest and or their whole table do a dance.
- Try again
- You can come up with any kind of Consequence for your guests.
Some possible questions could be:
- What is the bride's and or groom's middle name? (If either have one)
- Where did the bride and groom meet?
- How many people are at the wedding?
- On what date did the bride and groom get engaged?
- Where are the Bride and Groom going on their honeymoon?
- What is the bride's Father or Mothers name?
- Where will the couple live?
- How many pets do they have or will they have together?
- How many inches taller than the bride is the groom?
- Where was the engagement ring bought?
- As of today, how many years have they been together?
- If the bride had been married when she was five years old, ‘who’ would she have wanted to marry?
- Where did the Bride go to High School?
- Which of the guests (not a family member) has the groom known the longest?
This is only one variation of the game you could put a twist on it such as answering in the form of a question. Or giving the answer and the guest must figure out what the question was. You could make it a multiple choice answer. The possibilities are endless.

Kissing Games Part Two
Here is another spin on the trivia Kissing game.
TABLE NAME TRIVIA - KISSING GAME
You name your tables with titles of things that are important to you such as;
- The name of the street where you will live.
- The name of the place where he proposed.
- The name of the place where you met and so on.
If people want you to kiss, they have to come up and tell the story behind the table name.

Kissing Games Part Three
You may want to keep it more traditional but not quiet as loud and noisy as forks and knifes banging on plates and glasses then you could use a Bell
RING THAT BELL - KISSING GAME
Bells can be put at every place setting on each table with a little card explaining the purpose of the bell is to ring the bell when you want the Bride and Groom to get up and kiss.
I have seen people use the mini disposable air horns for those die hard sports fans, but they can get loud.
Kissing Games
Kissing Games Part Four
You can keep things really quiet for a kissing game by having people make a donation to get you to stand up and kiss.
CHARITABLE DONATION - KISSING GAME
Pick a charity that has special meaning to you, put a donation can on the head table. Your guests will have to pay if they want to see you kiss. For example every $1 given to charity you will kiss for 1 second.

COPY CAT KISS - KISSING GAME
A - Couples get up and stand in front of the head table and kiss. The Bride and Groom have to copy whatever their guests did...everything!
B - Put all the names of couples that you would like to participate in a container with yours in there 25% of the time. Each time glasses were clinked, the DJ/MC pulls a couple's name and they kiss. The Bride and Groom have to copy whatever their guests did...everything!

Kissing Games Part Six
How about a little art in your Big kiss
POEM OR LIMERICK - KISSING GAME
Place a piece of paper and a pen at each table with a card explaining the purpose of the pen and paper.
Each table has to write a love poem or limerick (it is a great way to get people who don't know each other talking) and then come up to the podium to read it.
Make sure that the poems are collected immediately after they have been read so you can put them in a scrapbook (It makes a great memento). The DJ/MC or a wedding party member sitting closest to the podium could have that job to collect the poems.

Kissing Games Part Eleven
Here is another game you played as a kid which works well.
HULA-HOOP - KISSING GAME
Leave a hula-hoop in the middle of the dance floor. The guest must hula using his waist and the couple has to kiss for as long as the hula is spinning.
If your guest can not manage to Hula-Hoop then a Consequence must be paid by the guest.
Kissing Games
Remember when you where a child one of the first games you played was Bean Bag Toss. Well people are still playing it in many different versions. The latest fad at Tail gate parties is a similar version to this next Kissing Game.
Kissing Games Part Twelve
BEAN BAG TOSS - KISSING GAME
Lay down a board on the floor with the far end slightly raised. There is a hole near the top center of the board for you to toss your bean bags into. You have 4 bean bags to toss at the board the first one to land in the hole gets the Bride and Groom to kiss. If the guest is unsuccessful at putting a bean bag into the hole the, a Consequence must be paid. Count up how many bean bags are on the board 1 to 4 to determine what the preset consequence will be. If the guest misses the board all together then that is consequence enough.
